HAVE QUESTIONS? HERE ARE SOME ANSWERS

  • How do we get married?

First things first, you must both be over the age of 18 (or have a court order allowing you to marry if you’re 16 - 18 years old), and secondly you cannot be related to each other. You will be required to lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) with me no less than one calendar month or earlier than 18 months of your ceremony date. I will need to check your proof of ID and then…we are good to start to plan your ceremony and get you married.

  • How do we book you as our celebrant?

You’ve seen my website (clearly as you are here!), seen me on the socials or even attended a ceremony where you saw me do my thing. If you like what you see and think that I am the perfect person to marry you to your perfect person - then you can get in touch via my CONTACT form or shoot me an email at hello@alithecelebrant.com.au. I will then confirm my availability. We meet, we greet and if we vibe, you pay a deposit (50% of the Ceremony Fee) to lock me in. Once that is done - your date is locked and loaded with me!

  • Do you have a PA?

I don’t skimp on the equipment…I have not only one but two (one as a backup on the day) BOSE S1 Pro Speakers and a Sennheiser Wireless Mic. All top of the range of course and you are welcome to use my speakers to play you ceremony music.

  • How much do you charge?

Every love is unique as the couple, which is why I quote each ceremony individually. The custom quotes take into consideration exactly what you want included, where the ceremony is located and how much you want me involved. There is no copy and paste here at my HQ, including ceremony costs.

  • What time do you turn up before the ceremony?

One hour before a ceremony (minimum). You just never know when guests are going to start arriving…so with this in mind I arrive at least one hour before your ceremony. The arrival time makes sure I have plenty of time to complete a set up, sound check (mic 2-1-2) and check in with any suppliers that are there on the day. A little ceremony space once over and triple check of the legal docs.

  • What happens if for some reason you can't turn up on the day?

I have a very long list of some of the most amazing celebrants in the business. So, if for any reason I cannot be your celebrant on the day - I can call upon this long list. I would never recommend or put someone in my place that I would not want to have as my own celebrant.

  • Do you send us a draft of our ceremony?

Sure do! I will provide you a draft ceremony script at leat 4 weeks before your ceremony date. However, there will be some key pieces missing from your script - your love story and personal vows. A ceremony should be organic as possible and make for those oh ah moments. Knowing your script inside and out takes away from that moment - so a little surprise here and there is a must.

  • How long is your average ceremony?

A Full Package Civil Wedding ceremony will usually run for 30 minutes (give or take). This includes all elements of the ceremony. An elopement will usually run slightly shorter at around 15 minutes.

  • Do you do rehearsals?

This is totally up to you! I am all for them if you are. If you would like to have a rehearsal, this is recommended to be held either the day before or as close to the ceremony date as possible. No need to invite along people who aren’t involved in the ceremony - just you, your other half, bridal party and anyone else you will be playing a role in your ceremony. If we can’t make it in person - a video call style rehearsal is a thing and is possible.

  • How often do we meet?

We met at least 2/3 times before your wedding ceremony. This may be over the phone, in person or via video call. Each point that we meet will cover legal documentation, ceremony details, ceremony support, general chit chat and so much more.

  • Where do we usually meet? Will you come to us?

I am available for meetings on the weekends and working week late afternoons and evenings. I am more than happy to come to you or we can meet for coffee or drink (I have a long list of favourite spots!). If preferred, we can also catch up over the phone or via video call.

  • Do you help us with our personal vows?

YES! I am married and this sure can be one of the most daunting steps in planning a wedding ceremony (I have been there). You will have access to my custom Vow Writing Guide and also support via email and phone when writing your vows. I always ask my couples to send through their vows to me at least 6 weeks before the wedding. This ensures that I can cross check them with the ceremony script and each set of vows.
